Legal Counsel with an interest in regulatory issues within the asset management industry
Permian is seeking a Legal Counsel for the Oslo office with an interest in the regulatory part of asset management, but also with company law and tax related issues. In this role, you will work broadly with legal issues within the Permian Group and with important issues for our clients. The clients of the Norwegian office are Norwegian and Swedish managers of alternative investment funds, such as private equity, venture capital, and real estate funds.
Key tasks:
You will become part of a committed Nordic team in a dynamic environment. You will have a central, multidisciplinary role with interesting work assignments that will include:
- advising, internally and externally, on the regulatory framework for managers of different types of alternative investment funds (AIF Act)
- compliance-related work for our clients
- deal with issues related to investor classification and anti-money laundering (AML/KYC) as well as FATCA/CRS
- deal with internal company legal issues such as GDPR, IT agreements, NDAs and acting as board secretary
- design and review agreements with customers and suppliers in cooperation with the marketing department and customer managers;
- carry out impact assessments of how new regulation may affect the business of Permian and our customers
- prepare and implement training programmes both internally and externally;
The role forms part of the company's Regulatory & Advisory group and reports to the Head of Legal and Compliance.
Qualifications and characteristics:
We apply for you with a Master in Jurisprudence and with a minimum of two years of work experience from a law firm and/or as an in-house jurist/lawyer. As a person, you are good at inserting yourself into complex issues and you have an eye for detail. You thrive on great responsibility in a fast-paced environment and are good at communicating with non-lawyers. In addition to good Norwegian knowledge, you must master English orally and in writing well.
Previous experience with alternative investment funds is not a requirement. Permian has extensive knowledge in this area and is happy to share this with new employees. Most importantly, you have an interest in joining us on your journey towards becoming a leading global fund manager.
